Seeking election to the Lake Bluff District 65 School Board:

Mark BarryMark Barry

Mark is a stay-at-home father who has lived in Lake Bluff since July of 2008 with his wife and two sons who attend LBMS. Mark sits on the NSSED APS Board, has volunteered for the 21st Century Learners Curriculum Committee, coached soccer and Little League Baseball, and volunteers for Scouting and swim team activities. Mark holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering and a BS in Civil Engineering, both from Manhattan College in The Bronx. In addition, Mark has a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. Prior to moving to Lake Bluff, Mark worked on the East Coast as both an environmental engineer for a consulting and construction firm, and in the marketing research field providing custom analytics to a variety of Fortune 500 consumer goods manufacturers. While living in New Jersey, Mark was a member of a state mandated special education parent advisory board, a Board of Education grant writing committee, an elementary school health and safety committee, as well as a PTA volunteer.

 

Leigh Ann CharlotLeigh Ann Charlot

Leigh Ann and her husband are 12 year residents of Lake Bluff and parents of two children; a daughter in second grade at LBES and a son who will enter Kindergarten in the fall of 2011. Leigh Ann is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of experience working with children and families. She holds a Masters of Social Work from Loyola University and a BA in Public Administration & Psychology from Miami University. She served on the 21st Century Learning Committee in 2010, currently serves on the LBES PTO Board, and co-leads a Girl Scout Brownie Troop.

 

 

 

Susan RiderSusan Rider

Susan and her husband Todd Porter moved to Lake Bluff in the fall of 2001. She has three children attending Lake Bluff schools. Susan earned her Bachelor's Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Law Degree from Cornell University. With 20 years of legal experience, she is a practicing attorney specializing in Labor and Employment Law as an Associate General Counsel for Exelon Corporation. In addition, she manages in-house and outside attorneys in representing the company in employment related lawsuits. She believes that the American public school system is fundamental to our democracy and is one of this nation's greatest assets. She hopes to contribute to the Lake Bluff schools to help them continue to flourish.

 

 

 

Seeking Election to Lake Forest High School District 115:

The Lake Bluff Caucus nominated (and the Lake Forest Caucus has endorsed) the following candidate for one of the open positions on the District 115 board. In addition, the Lake Bluff Caucus endorses the two candidates selected by the Lake Forest Caucus, Dick Block and Monty Edson.

Nicki SnoblinNicki Snoblin

Nicki is currently a member of the District 115 Board of Education. After chairing the Board's Operations Committee for two years, she was appointed to the Education Committee and also serves as the Board's liaison to the FAB (Faculty, Administration, Board) Committee. Nicki has been a resident of the district since 1987. Nicki and her husband, Karl, raised their two children here, both of whom attended public schools and graduated from LFHS. Nicki has had a 35-year professional career as a writer and editor. She launched a freelance business providing editorial and production services to a primarily research-oriented clientele. She later studied web design and development and expanded her professional offerings to include a full range of communications services. She also worked as a legislative aide to State Senator Susan Garrett. She currently owns and operates a communications and web design business. Nicki has been active in many organizations and boards, including Shields Township, the League of Women Voters, and the Lake Bluff PTO. She was president of the Lake Forest High School music supporters organization for two terms. Nicki was also a member of (and web developer for) the "Vote Yes for LFHS" Committee, which was successful in passing a critical referendum for capital improvements in 2006.
